Profile: Asthmatx, Inc. manufactures catheter based medical devices incorporating thermal energy for a variety of indications. Our Alair® System consists of a single-use device and a controller that delivers radiofrequency energy during an investigative outpatient bronchoscopic procedure known as bronchial thermoplasty. This system provides a different investigational treatment approach for severe asthma by using radiofrequency energy to apply controlled heat to the airway wall to reduce the amount of airway smooth muscle and to restrict its ability to narrow the airway.
