Profile: CardiacAssist, Inc. develops, manufactures and markets medical device products to provide cardiologists and cardiac surgeons. Our product range includes tandemheart cannula set, tandemheart controller and tandemheart system pump. Our tandemheart transseptal cannula set-enhanced flow 72 provides extended length to enable cannulation in individuals with a longer torso and accommodates the increased distance to the left atrium when cannulation is necessary from the left femoral vein. Our product is 10 cm long and includes a sealed pouch with two adjustable suture rings. Percutaneous access allows implementation of mechanical support in minutes. The cannula set is designed to accommodate various patient sizes and to permit appropriate flows at various pump speeds. The curved design at the distal end of the cannula body facilitates optimal placement of the tip in the left atrium. Distal tip and side holes are configured to allow adequate blood flow and drainage of the left atrium. Radiopaque disks are located in the tip of the cannula, for visualization under fluoroscopy. Our tandem heart pump acts with the cannula to unload the left side of the heart. The pump has a prime volume of 10cc. The fluid bearing is supplied by a unique lubrication system which feeds a nominal 10 cc/hr of saline.

The company was founded in 1996.
