Profile: Cas Innovations Gmbh & Co. Kg develops and distributes systems and solutions for surgical navigation in orthopedics, trauma surgery and interventional radiology. We offer electromagnetic and optical tracking instruments. The electro magnetic tracking instrument allows the surgeon to operate without any previous planning. The coil in the tip of the tracking needle, which produces a 50 cm x 50 cm x 50 cm electromagnetic field when electricity is induced, gives an exact image of the tracking needle current position in the body. This is a clear advantage compared with optical tracking, as tracking the exact position of the needle in the patient's body can be determined by the surgeon at all times. Surgical navigation system is able to identify the instrument that has been equipped with individually aligned marker spheres for this very purpose. The iGuide CAPPA navigation system supports the manual placing of puncturing needles & biopsy needles and offers computer-aided surgery.
