Profile: Endophotonix Inc. designs and manufactures laser-based surgical ablation systems. The products are indicated for the delivery of laser light for the incision, excision, dissection, vaporization, ablation or coagulation of soft tissue, including cardiac tissue, during surgical procedures. The Atrilaze® surgical ablation system is used to create precise lesions in soft tissue and cardiac tissue. This system comprises of EndoPhotonix diode pumped Nd-YAG fiber-optic laser and a malleable surgeon controlled wand. The Atrilaze Wand is used to deliver laser energy for the purpose of ablating cardiac tissue. The surgeon creates lesions by slowly navigating the wand in a uniform back and forth motion, maintaining contact with the tissue at all times. Sterile saline is constantly delivered during ablation by a fluid pump to flush the tip of the wand, and to facilitate the transfer of the laser energy from the fiber-optic to the tissue. The Solar® surgical ablation system is used to create precise lesions, including circumferential, linear and curvilinear lesions, in soft tissue, during surgical procedures. This system has three main components including compact fiber-optic laser, the solar controller and the solar orbital track. The solar controller is a computerized control module that automates the energy delivery process with defined settings for optimal lesion creation.
