Profile: Nexus Medical, LLC specializes in safely linking patient care & innovative technology™. The NexusTKO® utilizes a small, 3-position, silicone pressure activated anti-reflux valve. This unique valve is normally closed and only opens when I.V. fluids are flowing. As soon as the fluids stop flowing from the I.V. bag, the 3-position valve closes and prevents blood from the patient's vascular system from entering or refluxing in the I.V. catheter. The NexusTKO® technology has proven to reduce the overall cost associated with the intraluminal thrombotic occlusions in peripherally inserted central catheters, midlines, and central venous catheters. The NexusTKO® has also proven to increase the peripheral I.V. catheter life and reduce restart rates of peripheral I.V. catheters caused by reflux of blood into the lumen of the catheter. Reflux of blood can eventually cause the build up of biofilm inside the catheter which, in turn, may potentially lead to a CRBSI (catheter-related blood stream infection). This entirely new category of care eliminates the issue of choosing between positive or neutral needle-free access devices to help prevent all causes of blood reflux - physiological & mechanical.
