Profile: S.A. Instrumentation Difra specializes in the design and manufacture of ENT equipments. Our products goes from small devices for private use to full system for clinical use and also for research. The vestibular system consists of three semicircular canals, the utricle, and the saccule. Each of the semicircular canals lies anatomically in a different plane, each plane at a right angle to each other. The ends of the semicircular canals connect with the utricle, and the utricle connects with the saccule. While the semicircular canals provide information about movement of the head, the sensory hair cells of the utricle and saccule provide information to the brain (again through the vestibular portion of the acoustic nerve) about head position when it is not moving. DI 170111 VisioStar is a visual stimulator with LCD projector for oculomotor testing. Because eye movement measurements play an essential part in patient diagnosis by providing the clinician with important qualitative and quantitative information, the VisioStar provides the clinician an easy way to perform oculomotor test. DI 040001 Swing is a comprehensive rotary vestibular test system combining with the easy-to-use DiSoft software to deliver precise, computer-controlled rotational stimuli to the vestibular system.
The company is ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485:2003 certified.

• Caloric Air Stimulator (FDA Code: KHH / 874.1800) An air or water caloric stimulator is a device that delivers a stream of air or water to the ear canal at controlled rates of flow and temperature and that is intended for vestibular function testing of a patient's body balance system. The vestibular stimulation of the semicircular canals produce involuntary eye movements that are measured and recorded by a nystagmograph. |
• Caloric Water Stimulator (FDA Code: ETP / 874.1800) |
• Diagnostic Flexible Fresnel Lens (FDA Code: HJJ / 886.1390) A flexible diagnostic Fresnel lens is a device that is a very thin lens which has its surface a concentric series of increasingly refractive zones. The device is intended to be applied to the back of the spectacle lenses of patients with aphakia (absence of the lens of the eye). |
• Nystagmograph, Monitor (FDA Code: GWN / 882.1460) A nystagmograph is a device used to measure, record, or visually display the involuntary movements (nystagmus) of the eyeball. |
• Ophthalmic AC-Powered Fixation Device (FDA Code: HPL / 886.1290) A fixation device is an AC-powered device intended for use as a fixation target for the patient during ophthalmological examination. The patient directs his or her gaze so that the visual image of the object falls on the fovea centralis (the center of the macular retina of the eye.) |
• Opticokinetic Drum (FDA Code: HOW / 886.1200) An optokinetic drum is a drum-like device covered with alternating white and dark stripes or pictures that can be rotated on its handle. The device is intended to elicit and evaluate nystagmus (involuntary rapid movement of the eyeball) in patients. |
