Using a Hoyer type full electric patient lift or a manual patient lift allows care givers the ability to transfer patients using specialized patient slings for toileting, bathing or orthopedic needs. Patient lifts come in both manual and electric versions. A manual patient lift requires the caregiver to operate the lifter independently of managing the patient, and can be more difficult that using an electronic lift, where a caregiver can be more attentive to the patient at the same time.
