Profile: Tyrx Pharma, Inc. is a medical device manufacturer. We offer solutions for surgical-site infections and inflammatory tissue-reaction associated with implanted medical devices. We develop an antibiotic eluting bone paste that has the potential to reduce or eliminate the high morbidity of post-surgical complications. We offer AIGISRx™ anti-bacterial envelope for cardiac rhythm management devices. This is a mesh envelope that holds a pacemaker or implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, creating a stable environment surrounding the device and leads, after surgical placement. It is a dual component sterile prosthesis constructed of open-pore weave, knotted filaments of a lightweight polypropylene mesh and coated with a resorbable polymer. The resorbable polymer carries two distinct antibiotics such as minocycline and rifampin. The minocycline acts as a bacteriostatic to inhibit protein synthesis, while rifampin acts as a bactericidal that inhibits DNA-dependent RNA polymerase. Both minocycline and rifampin are impregnated into the resorbable polymer in concentrations of 86 µg/cm2.
