Blood pressure monitor is a device, which is used to measure blood pressure. It is usually consists of an inflatable cuff, a measuring unit, a tube to connect the two, and in models that don't inflate automatically an inflation bulb also connected by a tube to the cuff. The inflation bulb contains a one-way valve to prevent inadvertent leak of pressure while there is an adjustable screw valve for the operator to allow the pressure in the system to drop in a controlled manner. It is important to keep blood pressure at a low to medium level as high rates of blood pressure significantly increase the risk of heart disease or failure, strokes and diabetes.

The cardiac catheter is a fine tube threaded through an artery to the heart. It is designed for passage, usually through a peripheral blood vessel, into the chambers of the heart under radiographic control. It is usually made of polythene tubing, which is introduced into the relevant vessel, generally in the cubital fossa or the femoral region. Its progress is watched under X-rays until it is seen to enter the heart.
